A glorious new year and new chapter in our adoption journey has begun. We were able to connect with Lifetime Adoption and meet some of the wonderful people who are working with us throughout our adoption journey. We have an adoption coordinator taking us through the back end of adoption paperwork, education, and support as we wait for a baby. There is a whole team behind this adoption process, and it is truly exciting to be making so many connections.
Breakfast Burrito Fundraiser:
On January 13th, we had a Breakfast Burrito fundraiser. This was a conglomeration of so many prayers and people coming together for the purpose of supporting our adoption journey. Our dear friends Marta and Pepe presented this idea months ago. Our church generously donated the use of the building for the event. Marta prayed for 120 burritos, and Pepe’ encouraged her to go for 300. Frank aspired to reach $5,000. We aimed high, with hopes and dreams, and God gave us above and beyond! For the event, 411 burritos were made, and over $ 6,500 was raised. Another joyful outcome was that Frank pleasantly surprised me with a visit from our Colorado Homestudy coordinator. I am still writing thank you notes from this event, and I am in awe of the many thoughtful and supportive friends and family who came to share in our adoption. Truly, we feel so loved.
Home Study:
This week, I will turn in our final piece of adoption paperwork (a blood test missing on my physical), and our home study coordinator will spend the time to write out our approval paperwork. We will continue to work with our home study coordinator for the duration of our adoption journey. Once we receive a placement, it is treated like a foster care license until the adoption is finalized. The home study coordinator will make visits to our home and be one of our primary contacts for adoption finalization.
Fundraiser Update:
To date, we are at 84% of our goal of $55,000. We are thrilled to say that when we started our journey, we were unsure of just how this whole process would work. At this point, we have $8534.36 left to meet our goal. Once the homestudy is complete, I plan on applying for some grants and hope to finish our fundraising process. Photos for Adoption:
We got outdoor pictures for our adoption profile! We are so excited to have this part completed, as it is required for our adoption. Thank you to Erin for the beautiful photos. Check out Erin’s work if you are interested in booking a session with this talented woman! https://aeriephotography.zenfolio.com
Temporary Profile:
We finished a temporary profile for Lifetime Adoption, which will allow us to be shown to birth families while we proceed with building our complete profile package.
How long until we receive a placement?:
Once our profile is live, we can receive a placement within two years. Placements only occur when a mother is at least 20 weeks gestation, but could also happen quickly. I’m hoping to update you with this information once it goes live.
With love,
Frank and Rebecca
