Inevitably, since Frank is in school, we share a laptop. Often, I don’t have access to the computer, so these posts are late. Nevertheless, I am persevering in this activity for the sake of hope. I hope these posts are helpful in my endeavors to record the waiting period for adoption. Adoption seems like an intangible dream to me. Finding the strength to hope amidst a long wait and dealing with the reality of what comes next creates this long pause.
On the first day of November, I had tea at Glen Eyrie Castle with my friend. We enjoyed a delightful fall menu and tea selection with a window view of the landscape below.
Frank and I did a lot of work trying to grow a small business reselling items on MacBid, a platform designed to sell Amazon returns. It was exhausting, exhilarating, frustrating, and rewarding.
We also worked on some little house things, like hanging curtains, moving dirt in the backyard, and getting rid of items we no longer need.
For Thanksgiving, we flew to Detroit. Then, we spent time with my family: Dad, brother, sister-in-law, nieces, nephew, and the grandparents. We went to the Henry Ford Museum, took the kids for lunch at the great grandparents, and enjoyed a quick date at Shatila’s for dessert. We flew to DC for a few days. We spent the majority of those few days wandering the city with our friends, Waad and Feby. We enjoyed the Museum of the Bible with them. We even met the President while observing him do a commercial. He ended up asking for a picture with us. We enjoyed an epic dinner at the Old Ebbit Grill, then took an evening stroll around the White House.
The next day, we went to the Natural History Museum, the National Archives, the National Portrait Gallery, and the Lincoln Memorial.
On Thanksgiving, we flew home to Detroit, ate dinner, took Grandma and Papa to see Aunt Sue at the hospital, and had a small fellowship with Waad’s family.
Love,
Rebecca and Frank
